About Beer
Our selection of beer mimics the design of our wine list in the sense that they are
intended to pair well with food. A small selection that ranges from a lighter style
Kölsch to the rich, malty Belgian Trappist Ale is intended to offer the non-wine drinker
a satisfying beverage option that can compliment our food.
Here are some more thoughts on our beer selection:
Augustiner-Bräu Edelstoff
When the Czech beers of Pilzen (we call them Pilsners) became popular in the mid 1800s, the brewers of Munich responded with the creation of the Helles Lager; light and crisp like their competitor—thus the name "Helles" meaning "bright"—but with a malty balance. This great example of the Helles style is from one of its originators, the Augustiner-Bräu Brewery, Munich's oldest.
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier (16.9 oz.)
The Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan is the single oldest brewery on earth! The site was first established as a Benedictine monastery in the year 725, and the Wiehenstephan Monastery Brewery was officially created in the year 1040. Their wheat beer is an archetype; one of the best.
St. Peter's English Ale (16.9 oz.)
St. Peter's Brewery in Suffolk, UK is dedicated to making "real ales". All of their materials are from sources local to the brewery, all the way down to the water, which is drawn from the brewery's own well 100 meters below the facility. The water is naturally filtered through a deep layer of chalk in the soil, and is perfect for beer brewing. See how it all comes together in this classic English Ale.
Kasteel Belgian Triple
The 900 year old castle (built on a 1500 year old monastery) that houses this great, traditional brewery also serves as the inspiration for its name. This ale is a "triple", which means that the brewer starts with three times the normal amount of barley when gathering the ingredients that will eventually become this rich, full-bodied beer.
Mayflower Porter
There's a grand total of four people operating this Plymouth, Mass brewery. That tight team does everything from brewing the beer to driving the delivery trucks! This offering is their ode to a traditional English Porter. They've gone the extra mile here, using Chocolate, Brown, and Peated malts and carefully balancing with an almost-invisible touch of hops. Try it alongside some of our grilled, seared, or roasted meats for a great pairing.
